Summer Session begins for Concert, Jazz Bands

After a tremendously successful spring concert April 29  for the Concert and Jazz Bands, the Lexington New Horizons program will be starting a five-week summer session for both bands for the month of June and culminating in a concert July 1, according to co-directors Chrisine and Joe Carucci.

The summer session will start with Jazz Band rehearsal on May 29 at 6:45 p.m. at Mayfair Village off  Tates Creek Rd., under the direction of Joe Carucci. Jazz Band rehearsals will continue each Tuesday through June 26 at the same time and place.

Concert Band rehearsals, under the direction of Christine and Joe, will begin on Saturday, June 2, at 10 a.m. in a new venue. Concert Band will rehearse in the UK Fine Arts Building Band Room (on the lowest floor – if you enter through the doors directly across from Singletary Center off of Patterson Drive, the band room will be at the end of the first hall on the right). Parking is available in the lots near Singletary Center, as well as lots by the Student Center and behind the Career Center (as well as on the street). Concert Band rehearsals will continue  each Saturday through June 30 at the same time and place.

Tuition for the five-week session will be $40 for one ensemble, and $55 for both. As always, there will be a discount for family memberships.

The  Sunday, July 1, concert will be held at 3 p.m. in the Singletary Center for Fine Arts Recital Hall on the University of Kentucky campus (right across from where we rehearse).
